Rajasthan Crosses One Lakh Rooftop Solar Installations under PM Suryaghar Scheme

Rajasthan has achieved a major milestone with over 1,00,257 rooftop solar installations under the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, reaching a combined capacity of 408 MW. The installations include 33,922 under Jaipur DISCOM, 32,957 under Ajmer DISCOM, and 33,378 under Jodhpur DISCOM. This achievement reflects the strong momentum of solar adoption in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

To date, subsidies totaling ₹672 crore have been transferred to 86,307 beneficiaries—₹29,585 under Jaipur, ₹28,490 under Jodhpur, and ₹28,232 under Ajmer DISCOMs. The scheme provides a subsidy of up to ₹78,000 for installations up to 3 kW capacity. Rajasthan now ranks fifth nationwide in rooftop solar capacity, following Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala.

This year alone, the state has witnessed the installation of 77,254 rooftop systems. DISCOMs have implemented several innovations, including a “Rooftop Solar Champion Award” for employees, a simplified SOP, no upfront application charges, and billing-based charge recovery after installation. Additionally, 11 districts have selected model solar villages, each to receive ₹1 crore for promoting community solar initiatives.

Further momentum is expected from the 150 units per month free electricity scheme. Beneficiaries with available rooftop space will receive an additional subsidy of ₹17,000 for solar installation. Nearly 1.9 lakh consumers have already registered their consent to join this initiative.
