Secretary Ayush Underscores Ayurveda’s Central Role in Holistic Healthcare at CII Annual Health Summit 2025

New Delhi, November 12, 2025: Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, addressed the 22nd CII Annual Health Summit 2025 in New Delhi, emphasizing Ayurveda’s central role in advancing holistic healthcare across India. He called on hospitals and healthcare providers to leverage the full potential of Ayurveda by integrating traditional therapies with modern medical practices.

Shri Kotecha highlighted that Ayurvedic therapies, wellness treatments, detoxification procedures, and yoga-based interventions are gaining increasing recognition among both Indian and international patients. These holistic wellness programs, he noted, are helping shape a more comprehensive and restorative approach to health and well-being.

Integrative Medicine as the Future of Healthcare

The Secretary described the concept of integrative healthcare—merging traditional healing systems with evidence-based modern medicine—as vital to building a robust and inclusive medical ecosystem. He stated that this model not only promotes preventive and personalized care but also positions India as a major global destination for medical tourism.

According to him, the success of such integration depends on active collaboration between public and private sectors, along with enhanced training and research to strengthen the evidence base for Ayurveda and related systems.

Promoting Global Recognition for Indian Wellness Systems

Shri Kotecha emphasized that Ayurveda and other Indian systems of medicine are receiving growing international attention for their effectiveness in preventive healthcare, lifestyle management, and rehabilitation. He urged healthcare institutions to invest in infrastructure and human resource development to meet rising global demand for holistic wellness services.

He further pointed out that the inclusion of Ayurveda in mainstream healthcare delivery aligns with India’s goal of providing accessible, affordable, and sustainable healthcare solutions for all, reflecting the country’s unique heritage of traditional knowledge blended with modern science.

Advancing India’s Medical Tourism Potential

Highlighting India’s strength as a wellness destination, Shri Kotecha said that combining Ayurveda with modern diagnostic and treatment technologies can significantly enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction. He added that such integration will reinforce India’s position as a leader in the global medical tourism sector, offering world-class, holistic, and patient-centered care.

The event underlined the importance of policy support, institutional commitment, and awareness-building initiatives to promote integrative medicine as a mainstream healthcare practice in India.
