The 10th Session of the India–Slovenia Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation took place in New Delhi and was co-chaired by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Shri Saket Kumar, and Director General for Economic, Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Mr. Peter Japelj.

The meeting served as a platform to review the status of bilateral economic engagement, reinforce cooperation in key sectors, and outline a future roadmap for trade and investment between the two countries.

Bilateral trade between India and Slovenia has continued to increase in recent years, reflecting the expanding scope and resilience of their partnership.

Slovenia’s location at the intersection of Central Europe, along with India’s growing engagement with Europe, offers an opportunity to strengthen connections between the regions. This alignment of geographic and economic interests supports further collaboration in trade, technology, innovation, and connectivity.

The discussions covered an assessment of global and domestic economic developments and a review of bilateral trade and investment relations. Sectoral cooperation was examined in agriculture, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, health, transport, energy, tourism, MSMEs, and Ayurveda and traditional systems of medicine, as well as other matters related to trade and business. Both delegations expressed optimism regarding the timely conclusion of a balanced and mutually beneficial India–EU Free Trade Agreement.

During the visit, Mr. Peter Japelj met Commerce Secretary, Government of India, Shri Rajesh Agrawal, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The 10th session reaffirmed India’s commitment to advancing an economic partnership with Slovenia based on mutual trust, shared values, and long-standing ties, helping build the foundation for broader engagement across Europe and India.
