Special Campaign 5.0 Boosts Efficiency in Commerce India

The Department of Commerce, Government of India, successfully completed Special Campaign 5.0 from 2 October to 31 October 2025, aimed at improving administrative efficiency, workplace hygiene, and overall governance. The campaign addressed pending references across the Department, its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and affiliated organizations, promoting timely resolution of issues and enhanced office management.

Key Achievements of Special Campaign 5.0

During the campaign, officials reviewed 88,385 files and weeded out 46,255, streamlining workflows and reducing administrative backlog. A total of 277 cleanliness drives were conducted, generating around ₹70 lakh from e-waste and scrap disposal, and freeing up 36,005 sq. ft. of office space.

Environmental and Infrastructure Initiatives

  • Promotion of electric vehicles with charging points at the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. (ECGC) headquarters in Mumbai.
  • Installation of rooftop solar power systems and creation of a Zero Carbon Zone.
  • Enhancement of office premises through greenery development, improved parking, and optimized use of space.
  • Lake rejuvenation near the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) campus.
  • Implementation of Integrated Solid Waste Management and awareness campaigns on e-waste disposal.
  • Digitization of records and improved inventory management of electrical equipment and elevators.

Impact on Governance and Workplace Efficiency

The campaign reinforced a culture of cleanliness, efficiency, and environmental responsibility across Department offices. By focusing on renovation, record management, digitization, and proper e-waste disposal, Special Campaign 5.0 has significantly enhanced workplace hygiene and contributed to advancing the Government of India’s vision of good governance and administrative excellence.
