Realised Weather (Past 24 Hours)

Realised weather during past 24 hours ending at 0830 hours IST of today, the 23rd October, 2025:

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7-20 cm) has been recorded at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu
  • Heavy rainfall (7- 11 cm) has been recorded at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema

Weather Systems, Forecast and Warnings 

Depression over Southeast Arabian Sea

The Depression over southeast Arabian Sea moved slowly northeastwards with a speed of 5 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 0830 hrs IST of today, the 23rd October 2025, over the same region, near latitude 9.8°N & longitude 67.8°E, about 560 km west-southwest of Aminidivi (Lakshadweep) and 910 km southwest of Panjim (Goa). It is likely to move nearly north-northeastwards across southeast Arabian Sea towards eastcentral Arabian Sea during next 24 hours.

Low Pressure Area over South Interior Karnataka & Neighbourhood

Yesterday’s Well marked Low Pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu coast moved northwestwards and weakened into a low pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu and adjoining south interior Karnataka at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 23rd October 2025.It lay over south interior Karnataka and neighbourhood at 0830 hrs IST of today. It is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards across south Karnataka and emerge over eastcentral & adjoining southeast Arabian Sea during next 24 hours.

Likely Formation of Low Pressure Area over Bay of Bengal

Yesterday’s upper air cyclonic circulation over south Andaman Sea & neighbourhood lay over southeast Bay of Bengal adjoining South Andaman sea extending upto middle tropospheric levels. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over southeast & adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal on 24th October 2025. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and become more marked during subsequent 24 hours.

Western Disturbance

A fresh Western Disturbance likely to impact Western Himalayan Region from 27th October, 2025.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Odisha during next 5 days; and with lightning over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during next 5 days.

West India Forecast

❖ Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm at many places with isolated heavy rainfall over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on 23rd & 24th; Gujarat Region and Saurashtra & Kutch on 25th & 26th October.
Thunderstorm with lightning likely over Konkan & Goa, Marathawada and Madhya Maharashtra during next 5 days and over Gujarat Region during 25th & 26th and Saurashtra & Kutch during 24th -26th October.

North India Forecast (Temperature Fall)

Fall in minimum temperature by about 2°C over most part of Northwest India during next 2-3 days except East Uttar Pradesh where minimum temperature likely to fall by 3-5°C during the same period.

Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep & Comorin Area Warnings

Wind warning: Squally wind with speed reaching 45-55 gusting to 65 kmph prevailing around the system center and continue to prevail over Southeast and adjoining Eastcentral Arabian Sea till 25th October. Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely to prevail over Lakshadweep & Comorin Area and along & off Karnataka, Kerala and adjoining South Tamil Nadu coasts till 25th October.
Sea condition: Sea Condition is likely to be rough to very rough over Southeast and adjoining Eastcentral Arabian Sea till 25th October. Sea Condition is likely to be rough over Lakshadweep & Comorin Area and along & off Karnataka, Kerala and adjoining South Tamil Nadu coasts till 25th October.

Bay of Bengal & South Andaman Sea Warnings

Wind warning: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas Andaman Sea & eastcentral Bay of Bengal till 24th October. It is likely to increase becoming squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph over central parts of Bay of Bengal on 25th & 26th October. Squally weather with wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along & off Tamil Nadu – Andhra Pradesh coasts during 25th & 26th October.
Sea conditions: Sea condition is likely to be moderate to rough over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas Andaman Sea & eastcentral Bay of Bengal till 24th October till 23rd October evening. Sea condition is likely to be rough over central parts of Bay of Bengal on 25th & 26th October. Sea condition is likely to be moderate to rough over along & off Tamil Nadu – Andhra Pradesh coasts during 25th & 26th October.

Weather Forecast over Delhi/NCR

Past Weather over Delhi/NCR

There has been fall in the minimum temperature up to 1- 3°C and no large change in maximum temperature over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi were around 30 to 32°C and 17 to 18°C respectively. The minimum temperature was near normal and maximum temperature was below normal up to 1 – 3°C. Mainly clear sky conditions with predominant surface wind from the northwest direction with wind speeds up to 12 kmph prevailed during the past 24 hours. Mainly clear sky conditions associated with variable wind as gradually increase becoming up to 06 kmph from the southwest direction prevailed over the region in the forenoon today.

Detailed Weather Forecast for Delhi/NCR (23rd – 26th October)

23.10.2025: Mainly clear sky with mist/haze forenoon onwards. The maximum temperatures were in the range of 31 to 33°C. The maximum temperature will be near normal. The predominant surface wind will likely to be from the northwest direction with a wind speed of up to 10 -15 kmph during afternoon hours. The wind speed will decrease becoming upto 08 kmph from the northeast direction during the evening and night.
24.10.2025: Mainly clear sky. Mist/haze during morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 31 to 33°C and 17 to 19°C respectively. The minimum temperature will be above normal up to 1 – 2°C and the maximum temperature will be near normal.
25.10.2025: Mainly clear sky. Mist/haze during morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 31 to 33°C and 17 to 19°C respectively. The minimum temperature will be above normal up to 1 – 2°C and the maximum temperature will be near normal.
26.10.2025: Mainly clear sky becoming partly cloudy sky towards evening. Mist/haze during morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 31 to 33°C and 18 to 20°C respectively. The minimum temperature will be above normal up to 1 – 3°C and the maximum temperature will be near normal.

Impact & Action Suggested due to Isolated Very Heavy/Heavy Rainfall

Impact Expected

  • Localized Flooding of roads, water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses mainly in urban areas of the above region.
  • ➢ Occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall.
  • Disruption of traffic in major cities due to water logging in roads leading to increased travel time.
  • Minor damage to kutcha roads.
  • ➢ Possibilities of damage to vulnerable structure.
  • Localized Landslides/Mudslides/landslips/mudslips/landsinks/mudsinks.
  • Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.
  • ➢ It may lead to riverine flooding in some river catchments mainly over Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal (for riverine flooding please visit Web page of CWC)

Action Suggested

  • ➢ Check for traffic congestion on your route before leaving for your destination.
  • ➢ Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
  • Avoid going to areas that face the water logging problems often.
  • Avoid staying in vulnerable structure.

Agromet Advisories (State-wise)

  • ➢ In Andhra Pradesh, harvest matured groundnut crop and matured cobs of maize only during fair weather / non-rainy period and store the produce in safe places. Make arrangements to drain out excess water from fields of rice, maize, pigeon pea, black gram, green gram, cotton, groundnut, turmeric, ginger, vegetables and plantations of banana, coconut and arecanut. Avoid sowing of rabi crops (rabi maize, Bengal gram etc.) until the soil moisture reaches at optimum level.
  • ➢ In Tamil Nadu, store the harvested produce of rice and groundnut in safer places. Drain out excess water from fields of rice, sugarcane, cotton, black gram, maize and vegetables and plantations of coconut, banana and black pepper to avoid water stagnation. Avoid transplanting or direct sowing of rice and sowing of maize and cotton during heavy rainfall.
  • ➢ In Kerala, keep the harvested produce of rice and vegetables in safer places. Drain out excess water from fields of rice, vegetables and plantations of banana, coconut, arecanut, cardamom and black pepper.
  • ➢ In Coastal Karnataka, postpone harvesting of rice till cessation of heavy rains and shift the already harvested produce to safer places. Drain out excess water from fields of rice and plantations of coconut, arecanut and black pepper. In South Interior Karnataka, postpone harvesting of kharif pulses and maize till cessation of heavy rains and store the already harvested produce of pulses, maize, groundnut, cardamom, coffee etc. in dry, covered and ventilated areas or cover with tarpaulins in the fields. Drain out excess water from fields of rice, maize, finger millet, pulses, groundnut and vegetables and plantations of banana, black pepper, cardamom, coffee, coconut and arecanut to avoid waterlogging. Avoid sowing of rabi crops till the soil moisture reaches at optimum level. In North Interior Karnataka, shift the harvested produce of maize, groundnut and soybean to safer places.
  • ➢ In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, store the harvested produce of rice at safe places to avoid degradation. Make arrangements for drainage of excess water from fields of rice, vegetables and plantation crops.
  • ➢ In Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra, keep the harvested produce of kharif crops in safer places.

Livestock / Fishery Advisories

  • ➢ Keep the animals inside the shed during heavy rainfall and provide them balanced feed.
  • ➢ Store feed and fodder in a safe place to prevent spoilage.
  • ➢ Construct an outlet with proper netting around the ponds to drain out excess water, thereby preventing fish from escaping in case of overflow.

Thunderstorm / Gusty Winds / Squally Winds Advisories

  • ➢ Provide mechanical support to horticultural crops and staking or support to vegetables and young fruit plants / fruit-bearing plants to avoid lodging due to strong winds.
  • ➢ Tie the harvested crops properly and cover them to minimise the risk of displacement due to strong surface winds.
