The National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, in collaboration with Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), organized the Curtain Raiser event for the 11th India International Science Festival (IISF–2025) at its Noida campus.

The IISF–2025 is scheduled to take place in Chandigarh from December 6 to 9, 2025, under the theme “Vigyan Se Samruddhi: For Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (Science for Prosperity: For a Self-Reliant India). The festival aims to showcase India’s scientific achievements and promote innovation-driven development for national self-reliance.

Dignitaries and Key Speakers

The event featured Prof. A.D. Rao from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi as the Chief Guest. Other eminent speakers included Shri Ashutosh Singh representing Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), Dr. T. Satyanarayana from Graz University of Technology, Austria, and Dr. V.S. Prasad, Head, NCMRWF.

In their addresses, the speakers underscored the crucial role of science, research, and technology in advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. They emphasized the need for collaborative scientific initiatives that can strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem and support sustainable national growth.

Student Participation and Outreach

The Curtain Raiser event witnessed enthusiastic participation from college students across the Delhi–NCR region. The students had the opportunity to interact with NCMRWF scientists and explore the Centre’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) facilities. The engagement aimed to inspire young minds toward scientific inquiry, research, and innovation, reinforcing India’s commitment to fostering a science-driven culture.

The event concluded with a collective resolve to make IISF–2025 in Chandigarh a landmark celebration of India’s scientific excellence, technological innovation, and societal progress through self-reliance. The festival is expected to bring together researchers, students, innovators, and policymakers to exchange ideas and showcase cutting-edge advancements in various fields of science and technology.
