New Delhi, October 16, 2025: The State Election Commission (SEC) of Delhi has announced the appointment of Expenditure Observers for the upcoming bye-elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The vacancies have arisen following the election of one councillor as a Member of Parliament and eleven councillors as Members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
Background of the Bye-Elections
In accordance with Section 7 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957, the State Election Commissioner, Dr. Vijay Dev, issued this notification after consultation with the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
