The ECI has announced the schedule for the Bihar Legislative Assembly Election 2025 and the bye-elections in eight ACs. To uphold the integrity of the electoral process, the Commission has appointed Central Observers under the authority of Article 324 of the Constitution and Section 20B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. These Observers play a critical role in ensuring a level playing field for all political parties and candidates.

Following their initial visits to assigned constituencies, all Observers are now stationed in their respective areas to maintain continuous oversight.

Role and Responsibilities of Observers

The ECI has issued clear directives to Observers to ensure the electoral process remains transparent and fair. Their responsibilities include:

  • Closely monitoring the entire election process to prevent malpractices.
  • Remaining accessible to political parties, candidates, and voters to address grievances promptly.
  • Visiting polling stations to ensure compliance with ECI guidelines and voter convenience initiatives.

Commitment to Voter Convenience

The ECI has introduced several initiatives to enhance the voting experience. Observers are tasked with ensuring these measures are effectively implemented at polling stations, making the process more accessible and voter-friendly.

With these efforts, the Election Commission of India reaffirms its dedication to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections, fostering trust in the democratic process.
