First Randomization of EVM-VVPATs Completed for Bye-Elections in 8 Assembly Constituencies

 

In compliance with the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI), District Election Officers (DEOs) across eight Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram, Odisha, and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have successfully completed the first randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs). This process occurred between October 9 and 16, 2025.

Process of Randomization

The randomization was conducted using the EVM Management System (EMS) under the supervision of DEOs and in the presence of representatives from recognized national and state political parties. This ensures transparency and adherence to electoral protocols.

Allocation Details

Following the randomization, EVMs and VVPATs were allotted to the constituencies. The breakdown is as follows:

Sharing of Lists and Storage

Constituency-wise lists of the randomized EVMs and VVPATs have been shared with representatives of all recognized national and state political parties at the respective district headquarters. These machines will be securely stored in the Assembly Strong Rooms in the presence of party representatives.

Once the list of contesting candidates is finalized, these details will also be provided to the candidates.
