
Bureau of Indian Standards Establishes Amendments to Key Indian Standards
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued a notification announcing the establishment of amendments to several Indian Standards. The notification, dated 4 November 2025, was released in accordance with Sub-rule (1) of Rule (15) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018.
Purpose of the Amendments
The amendments bring updates to standards related to raw sugar, handloom cotton muslin, and handloom cotton mix saris. These updates are aimed at maintaining clarity, safety, and consistency in the manufacturing and quality processes followed across the country. Each amendment becomes effective from 03 November 2025 and will remain in use along with the earlier versions until 02 May 2026.

The notification was issued by Scientist G and DDG (Hallmarking and Training), Chitra Gupta, and was later uploaded by the Directorate of Printing at the Government of India Press, Mayapuri, New Delhi.
