Overview of Special Campaign 5.0
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, along with its media units and field offices across India, is actively engaged in Special Campaign 5.0. Launched on October 2, 2025, this initiative aims to enhance workplace cleanliness, reduce pending matters, and boost operational efficiency. The campaign, currently in its implementation phase, builds on targets set during its preparatory stage, emphasizing sustainable practices and responsible e-waste management.
Key Achievements in the First Fortnight
From October 2 to October 17, 2025, the Ministry has made significant progress in various areas:
- Outdoor Campaigns and Cleanliness: Conducted 493 outdoor campaigns, cleaned 973 spots, and condemned 104 vehicles.
- Scrap Disposal: Disposed of approximately 1.43 lakh kg of scrap, generating Rs. 34.27 lakhs in revenue and freeing up 8,007 square feet of space.
- File Management: Reviewed 13,900 physical files, weeding out 3,957, and examined 585 e-files, closing 165.
- Grievance and Reference Resolution: Addressed 301 public grievances, 57 public grievance appeals, 16 MP references, 2 state government references, and 1 PMO reference.

Ongoing Efforts and Oversight
A dedicated team of officers from the Ministry has been deployed to various field offices to monitor the progress of Special Campaign 5.0. Notably, R. K. Jena, Senior Economic Adviser and Nodal Officer, inspected cleanliness initiatives, file digitization, and weeding processes at Shastri Bhawan’s Record Room and other sections.
Community Engagement and Impact
A notable highlight includes a sanitation drive organized by PIB Imphal in a school, fostering hygiene awareness and community spirit. The Ministry remains committed to institutionalizing cleanliness, enhancing productivity, and ensuring timely resolution of pending matters, contributing to India’s broader goals of sustainability and efficiency.
