Global Innovation Platforms and Sustainable Chinese Pavilion Featured at Big 5 Global in Dubai
DUBAI The 2025 edition of the Big 5 Global opened today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, highlighting global innovation platforms and a sustainable Chinese pavilion constructed entirely from recyclable materials. The event focuses on technology, sustainability and talent development.
Focus on Key Development Pillars
Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President – Construction at dmg events, the organiser of the exhibition, said the 2025 edition is built around four main pillars that include strengthening supply chain resilience, technological advancement, sustainable construction and talent empowerment.
She told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the exhibition features, for the first time, a large Chinese pavilion extending over more than 1,000 square metres and made fully from recyclable materials.
New Platforms and Technologies
Heijmans said the event has introduced HVACR World this year to showcase the latest innovations in cooling and air-conditioning technologies. She added that the exhibition also includes the Digital Construction platform, which presents advanced solutions for managing sustainable projects using artificial intelligence and 3D printing.
Knowledge Tracks and International Collaboration
She noted that the exhibition provides extensive knowledge programmes with 13 learning tracks. These include new tracks focusing on artificial intelligence tools and sustainability. She added that the Trade Connections Breakfast aims to enhance cooperation between international participants and local buyers.
Support for Start-Ups and Sustainable Solutions
Heijmans affirmed the exhibition’s support for start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises through the Start-Up City zone, which gathers global innovations in construction technology and urban and climate solutions. The zone also offers opportunities to join a pitch competition designed to help entrepreneurs expand their international reach.
She said sustainability is a key theme of this year’s edition, where visitors can follow the Big 5 Impact Trail to identify exhibitors specialising in eco-friendly materials and low-emission solutions.
Livable Cities Summit
Heijmans added that the accompanying Livable Cities Summit discusses policies and strategic planning to support innovative approaches for developing cities that are more sustainable, resilient and people-centred. The summit also highlights technological innovations that improve project quality and promote sustainable construction solutions.
