
ABU DHABI, 10th November, 2025 – Khalifa University of Science and Technology has reported strong engagement in the multiple leagues of the 8th edition of RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025, fostering competition among students and robotics enthusiasts. The event anticipates more than 1,000 visitors daily.
Event Overview and Participation
The RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025, themed AI and Robotics for a Sustainable Future, features over 700 participants from 22 countries. Held at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi until 15 November, the competition aligns with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week 2025. It takes place under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs.
Competitions cover eight leagues and 15 sub-leagues, including soccer and rescue robotics categories. More than 170 teams are involved, with notable representation from Singapore (22 teams, 61 students, and 55 officials), South Korea (20 teams), India (19 teams), Egypt (18 teams), Russia (18 teams), and China (12 teams).
Local and International Engagement
The United Arab Emirates contributes 10 teams, including 44 students, across adult, teen, and kid size leagues in football and rescue divisions. Local schools and universities compete in national leagues, complementing the global field.
Teams are developing robots equipped with advanced algorithms and fully autonomous systems. Visitors have shown keen interest in the emerging technologies showcased during the matches.

Dr. Hamad Karki, General Chair of RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025 and Associate Professor of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at Khalifa University, noted that the high participation levels underscore Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for advancing robotics through competitions. He emphasized the emirate’s supportive environment for AI and robotics research, driven by government strategies, substantial investments, and partnerships among academia, industry, and public sectors.
