Meeting Between Foreign Minister Motegi and Deputy Prime Minister Kh. Gankhuyag of Mongolia

Overview of the Meeting
On November 28, from 5:40 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. Motegi Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, met with H.E. Mr. Khassuuri Gankhuyag, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, who is visiting Japan at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting covered several areas of bilateral cooperation.
Discussion on Bilateral Relations
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Motegi welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Gankhuyag’s visit to Japan and conveyed his intention to advance cooperation between the two countries. He also highlighted the importance of working together on global issues to help achieve a Free and Open Indo-Pacific in partnership with Mongolia as the Special Strategic Partners for Peace and Prosperity. Deputy Prime Minister Gankhuyag expressed his commitment to further developing ties with Japan, noting that the visit of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress to Mongolia held significant meaning for bilateral relations.
Economic and Connectivity Cooperation
Minister Motegi acknowledged the successful conclusion of the 12th Japan-Mongolia Government and Business Sector Joint Committee. Both sides agreed to continue enhancing cooperation in political and economic sectors in line with the bilateral Action Plan. Minister Motegi also reaffirmed Japan’s support for the expansion of Chinggis Khan International Airport, describing it as a symbol of bilateral cooperation and an important element for improving air connectivity. Deputy Prime Minister Gankhuyag expressed his appreciation for this support.
Regional and International Cooperation
The two officials also shared views on their cooperation in regional and international fora.
