Japan-Thailand Relations Deepen in Diplomatic Courtesy Call

Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Japan. The following is an overview of the meeting.

Condolences and Bilateral Relations

At the beginning of the meeting, State Minister KUNIMITSU offered her condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. She also conveyed her intention to enhance the relationship between Japan and Thailand as Comprehensive Strategic Partners in the lead-up to the 140th anniversary of Japan-Thailand relations in 2027.

Ambassador’s Remarks

Ambassador Witchu congratulated State Minister KUNIMITSU on her appointment and noted his commitment to continuing efforts to advance the bilateral relationship.

Both sides exchanged views on areas including judicial and economic cooperation, as well as the Thai-Cambodia border issue.
