The meeting, which lasted around half an hour, formed part of Japan’s ongoing efforts to foster friendship and mutual understanding through its Friendship Ties Programs.
Focus on Strengthening Japan-U.S. Alliance
During the discussion, Mr. ONISHI highlighted the enduring importance of the Japan-U.S. Alliance as a cornerstone of both nations’ security and prosperity. He pointed out that exchanges between Japanese officials and members of the American Jewish community play a key role in reinforcing these bilateral ties. The Vice-Minister expressed confidence that such people-to-people engagement would lead to deeper cooperation between Japan and the United States in the years ahead.
Ceasefire and Hostage Release Welcomed
At the start of the meeting, Mr. ONISHI acknowledged and welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement and the release of all surviving hostages, more than two years after the violent attacks carried out by Hamas and related groups.
