Lisbon On behalf of Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Minister of Interior Dr. Hisham Al-Faleh headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Ministerial Conference of the European Union (EU) and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries. The conference aims to establish a regional political dialogue to enhance security cooperation.
Portuguese Minister of Home Affairs Maria Lúcia Amaral inaugurated the conference in Lisbon.
In his address, Dr. Hisham said the Kingdom looks forward to exchanging ideas and future visions through this conference. He emphasized the importance of achieving security coordination and integration, enhancing international cooperation to combat organized crime, developing law-enforcement agencies, and formulating joint action plans for information and expertise exchange. He also stressed strengthening regional cooperation between the EU and MENA countries.
Dr. Hisham noted that crime in all its forms poses major challenges. He underscored the need to reinforce international partnership and cooperation to confront these challenges and to exchange successful experiences in preventive measures.
The conference was attended by ministers from Arab and European countries and representatives of international organizations. Participants discussed joint security issues, reviewed new security models to face evolving threats, and addressed ways to strengthen security cooperation. The conference also explored mechanisms for joint coordination and the exchange of information and expertise to meet regional and international challenges.
