Department of Legal Affairs leads collective tribute on national song’s 150th year

Officers and staff of the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, joined Branch Secretariats and attached offices for a mass singing of Vande Mataram on 7 November 2025. The gathering at Shastri Bhawan began with a short reflection on the song’s place in India’s freedom movement before participants rendered the anthem together at 10:00 AM.

Remarks from the Law Secretary

Law Secretary Dr. Anju Rathi Rana addressed those present with a special message highlighting the values embodied by the song. She urged participants to uphold harmony, integrity and a shared sense of purpose as expressions of the spirit behind Vande Mataram.

The event was organised as part of a nationwide commemoration marking 150 years of the national song. Through the collective rendition, the Department conveyed its commitment to national initiatives that celebrate cultural identity and to strengthening the collective spirit of public service while embracing diversity.
