Ceremony and participation in New Delhi

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj organised a special event in New Delhi to mark 150 years of Vande Mataram. The gathering coincided with the inaugural ceremony graced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Shri Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and other ministry officials attended the commemoration.

Participants watched the live telecast of the Prime Minister’s address and joined a nationwide mass singing of Vande Mataram with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.

Honouring Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay

Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel paid tribute to Shri Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, noting that the composer’s work continues to inspire patriotism and devotion to the nation. He urged young people to take pride in India’s civilisation, cultural heritage and traditions, and encouraged their active contribution to the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Ministry directives for rural outreach

Shri Vivek Bharadwaj observed that the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram reflects a growing spirit of unity, pride and self-reliance in contemporary India. He said the Ministry has urged all Panchayati Raj Institutions and Rural Local Bodies across the country to spread the message of Vande Mataram in every village. According to the Ministry, this effort is aimed at strengthening national pride and encouraging collective participation in nation-building.

This event formed part of nationwide observances marking the sesquicentennial of a song that has been a touchstone of Indian national sentiment since its composition by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
