Skill Development Programmes Under Port CSR Initiative Conclude Successfully

The valedictory event for the Skill Development Programmes conducted by the Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding under the Port’s CSR initiative took place at the Port on 26.11.2025 in Tuticorin, Tamilnadu. Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, presented course completion certificates to trainees of the EXIM & Warehouse Executive, Welder, and Computer Numerical Control programmes. Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, along with senior Port officials, attended the function.

The programme continued to register strong outcomes, with notable placement achievements that indicate industry acknowledgement and demand. Several trained candidates have secured employment in major MNCs. All 14 trainees from the Welder and CNC Operator batch received job offers, marking a 100 percent placement rate. The initiative has contributed to career development, economic progress, and broader community growth.

Skill Development to Support Employability

VOC Port has been conducting various skill development initiatives through CEMS to equip local youth with practical, industry-focused capabilities and enhance employment potential in different sectors. The programmes include seven vocational courses aimed at strengthening employability across industrial domains. These courses cover Domestic Data Entry Operator, Exim Executive, Warehouse Executive, Welder, CNC Operator, Supply Chain Executive, and Courier Associate Operations.

While addressing participants, Chairperson Shri Sushant Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, encouraged trainees to utilise the opportunity to build their professional path. He also emphasised the relevance of gender equality and equal participation for women in the training programmes. Deputy Chairperson Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, offered guidance to the trainees and urged them to seek new openings and continue enhancing their skills to support career advancement.
