Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary Flags Off 23 Competitors in 21 Skills for Chinese Taipei Event

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship organised a send-off ceremony for India’s contingent participating in the WorldSkills Asia Competition 2025, scheduled from 27-29 November 2025 in Chinese Taipei. This marks India’s first participation in the WorldSkills Asia platform.

The ceremony featured Minister of State in charge of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, Jayant Chaudhary, as Chief Guest, along with Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Debashree Mukherjee. Senior Economic Advisor Gyan Bhushan and actor Sudesh Berry were also present and encouraged the competitors.

The continental competition will host more than 500 competitors across 38 skill categories from nearly 40 Asian member and guest countries. The Indian team, led by the National Skill Development Corporation, includes 23 competitors and 21 experts who will participate in 21 skill categories.

Jayant Chaudhary said that the young competitors represent India’s growing capabilities in the global skills arena. He noted that the participants have undergone extensive training supported by experts, Sector Skill Councils, the Ministry, and industry partners. He added that the government remains focused on nurturing talent aligned with the goal of becoming the Skill Capital of the World.

The competitors demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of skills, including Digital and IT Technologies, Mobile Robotics, Mechatronics, CNC Milling, Web Development, Automotive Repair, Fashion Technology, Graphic Design, Beauty Therapy, and other emerging and traditional disciplines.

The participants were selected through a multi-stage national evaluation process conducted under IndiaSkills Competition 2024, the country’s largest skills championship organised by the National Skill Development Corporation. Winners of the competition qualify to represent India at global WorldSkills events.

Debashree Mukherjee stated that India’s debut in WorldSkills Asia marks a notable milestone in the country’s skill development journey. She highlighted the Ministry’s work in strengthening training and assessment systems that prepare candidates to meet global benchmarks. She encouraged the competitors to uphold national standards and perform to the best of their abilities.

The 23 competitors emerged as medal winners after national-level evaluations involving industry specialists and international-grade assessments. Over the last five months, they have received training in partnership with institutions such as JK Cement, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, LTA Academy of Beauty, Mahindra University, Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, and Iraj Evolution Design Company Limited. The training included advanced labs, simulators, coaching, and practical problem-solving environments.

To support their readiness, WorldSkills India conducted a four-day Team Building and Readiness Program from 21-24 November. The program included psychometric evaluations, grooming and communication training, neurotherapy and mindfulness sessions, nutrition guidance, art and music therapy, and travel preparation workshops.

India’s participation in the 2025 competition reflects the country’s focus on global standards, international benchmarking, and technical education as part of the Skill India Mission, with the National Skill Development Corporation contributing to implementation, training design, expert coordination, and competitor development.
