The Government of Assam has introduced significant amendments to the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation and Management) Rules, 2007, effective from their publication in the Official Gazette on September 17, 2025. Overview of the Amendments
The Governor of Assam has exercised powers under sub-section (1) of section 31 of the 2006 Act to introduce the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation and Management) (Amendment) Rules, 2025. These amendments modify specific provisions in the principal Rules to streamline regulations and management of non-government educational institutions.
Key Changes to Rule 4
In the principal Rules, rule 4, sub-rule (2), clause (a) has been revised to update the fee structure for educational institutions based on their highest class level. The new fee structure is as follows:
- Educational Institution having highest till Class V: Rs. 5,000/-
- Educational Institution having highest till Class VIII: Rs. 7,500/-
- Educational Institution having highest till Class X: Rs. 8,000/-
- Educational Institution having highest till Class XII: Rs. 10,000/-
Amendments to Rule 5
Similarly, rule 5, sub-rule (3) of the principal Rules has been amended to reflect the updated fee structure for different categories of educational institutions. The revised fees are:
- Educational Institution having highest till Class V: Rs. 5,000/-
- Educational Institution having highest till Class VIII: Rs. 7,500/-
- Educational Institution having highest till Class X: Rs. 8,000/-
- Educational Institution having highest till Class XII: Rs. 10,000/-
Effective Date
These rules, officially titled the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation and Management) (Amendment) Rules, 2025, will come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
