Air Quality Improvement

This Diwali, Uttarakhand recorded a notable improvement in air quality. Through technological measures, administrative actions, and public cooperation, the air in major cities remained significantly cleaner than previous years. Most cities reported air quality indices in the moderate or satisfactory category, a marked improvement from last year.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the government’s goal is to ensure clean air not only during festivals but throughout the year. He emphasized that this year’s results demonstrate that innovation, public awareness, and collective participation can drive real change.

R.K. Sudhanshu, Chairman of the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board, noted that drone-based water spraying, new mechanical sweeping machines, and awareness campaigns in schools and colleges have shown tangible results. On October 20, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, and Haldwani recorded moderate air quality levels, while other districts, including Tehri, also maintained moderate levels. The “Green Diwali, Clean Diwali” campaigns in schools and colleges encouraged eco-friendly celebrations and limited firecracker use, contributing to reduced pollution levels.

UDAN Scheme

The Ministry of Civil Aviation reported that the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN) has facilitated over 1.56 crore passengers through 3.23 lakh flights in nine years. Launched on October 21, 2016, under the National Civil Aviation Policy, the scheme operates 649 routes, connecting 15 heliports and two water aerodromes, along with 93 underutilized airports.

During the ninth anniversary event in New Delhi, Civil Aviation Secretary Sameer Kumar Sinha highlighted that UDAN has been a transformative initiative, making air travel affordable and accessible for the common citizen.

PM Janman Tribal Justice Campaign

Udham Singh Nagar district secured the fourth position nationally in the PM Janman Tribal Justice Campaign. In a recent event in New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu honored District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadoria for this achievement.

The state government is integrating the Janman program with local traditional businesses like woolen textiles, herbal products, and tourism to enhance the livelihoods of tribal communities while preserving their cultural identity. District Magistrate Bhadoria stated that development works in 17 sectors, including education, health, housing, infrastructure, skill development, and social security, have been undertaken under the scheme. The PM Janman initiative aims to integrate approximately 28 lakh people from 75 tribal districts into mainstream development.

Corbett National Park Tourist Surge

Due to Diwali holidays, Corbett National Park in Ramnagar has seen a significant influx of tourists. To address wildlife and environmental safety, the Corbett administration has taken strict measures, including special inspection drives at railway stations, roadways buses, and nearby slum areas. Sniffer dogs and metal detectors are being used to thoroughly check suspicious individuals and their belongings.

Saket Badola, Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve, stated that a large number of tourists from across the country are visiting Ramnagar during the tourism season. Necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety and conservation of sensitive forest areas.

Under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s initiative, Pauri district administration officials celebrated Diwali with victims of the disaster-affected Sainji village, extending good wishes. Post-disaster relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts in Sainji are being prioritized. On the festival day, locals expressed gratitude to the administration for their sensitive approach.
