
Swasthya Vahini Mobile Medical Initiative in India
Rohtak, November 7: A dedicated mobile medical initiative named Swasthya Vahini has been launched in Rohtak to raise awareness and support early detection of breast cancer among women across the district. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta inaugurated the initiative during a night halt program held at Ismaila village.
Healthcare Access at the Community Level
The aim of Swasthya Vahini is to bring essential screening services and awareness to women in rural and semi-urban areas. The program focuses on ensuring that every woman has access to physical examination, diagnostic screening, and timely medical support without the need to travel far from home.
Three-Phase Program Structure
The campaign will function under the theme One Village – One Day, enabling focused attention in each location.
Phase I – Physical Detection and Awareness
- A trained team of female doctors, ANMs, and health workers will visit villages to conduct initial physical examinations for early signs of breast-related concerns.
- Women will also receive guidance on self-examination and the importance of early detection.
Phase II – Diagnostic Screening (Mammography)
- Women showing symptoms or physical indications during the first phase will undergo mammography and other screening procedures using the mobile medical unit or designated medical centers.
- Each participant will receive an individual diagnostic report.
Phase III – Referral and Treatment
- Confirmed or probable cases will be referred for further evaluation and treatment.
- Referred institutions include Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jhajjar, and government medical institutions in Haryana.
- The district administration will ensure follow-up and coordination until treatment begins.
Initial Coverage Groups
During the initial rollout, priority will be given to:
- Female school teachers
- Female health and government staff
- Women aged 35 years and above in identified areas
Collaborative Effort
The initiative is being carried out with the support of Dr. Anita Narula Charitable Foundation and LPS Bossard, reflecting cooperation between public and private groups in promoting preventive healthcare.
Objective and Community Response
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the purpose of Swasthya Vahini is to empower women by making early detection accessible. He emphasized that early diagnosis can save lives, and this effort aims to bring that possibility closer to every household, especially in rural areas.
The launch at Ismaila village witnessed active participation from women, teachers, and health workers who took part in discussions and demonstrations conducted by the medical team.
