Senior Residents / Tutor Specialists
Qualifications
For clinical specialties: MD/MS/MDS or DNB in the relevant field, or Postgraduate Diploma recognized by NMC/DCI.
For non-clinical specialties: Recognized MD/MS/DNB or qualifications as per HP Medical Education Service Rules.
Recruitment Process
- Selection is based on Entrance Test/Written Test conducted by AMRU.
- Recruitments occur three times a year (November, March, July) with document verification in the following month.
- Merit lists consider both academic marks and service experience for GDOs.
- Final selection and appointment orders are issued by the DME&R-HP after government approval.
Tenure and Terms
- Ordinarily, the appointment is for three years.
- GDOs continue to draw their pay and allowances; direct candidates receive government-prescribed stipend.
- Leave, teaching experience, and repeat tenure rules are clearly defined.
- Inter-transferability is restricted and allowed only under specific conditions.
Junior Residents / Tutor General
Eligibility and Selection
- Open to MBBS degree holders not pursuing Post Graduation.

- Merit in MBBS exams prioritized; special preference for GDOs whose spouses are faculty members.
- Temporary appointments allowed for up to six months in case of vacant Senior Resident positions.
Terms and Conditions
- Initial appointment is for one year, extendable only in exceptional cases.
- GDOs retain their salary and allowances; direct MBBS candidates receive government-prescribed emoluments.
Resignation and Removal
Senior Residents/Tutor Specialists and Junior Residents/Tutor Generals can be removed for misconduct or unsatisfactory performance. A one-month notice or salary in lieu is required for resignation. Appointees must submit an undertaking that they will not claim regularization against their tenured posts.
Reservation Policy
State reservation rules apply to all sanctioned posts, and unfilled reserved posts may be filled from the General category. AMRU maintains a transparent and combined roster for all medical college cadres.
Power to Amend
The State Government reserves the right to relax, change, or amend any provision of the policy as deemed necessary in public interest.

Interested candidates must submit their applications in the prescribed format (Annexure-I) along with supporting documents and application fee details. An undertaking confirming the accuracy of information and commitment to abide by policy rules is required.
