Bypoll Scrutiny for Nagrota and Budgam

The scrutiny of nomination papers for the bypolls in Nagrota and Budgam Assembly constituencies, scheduled for November 11, 2025, will take place today. According to All India Radio’s Jammu correspondent, a total of 33 candidates have filed nominations—20 for Budgam and 13 for Nagrota. To ensure a fair, transparent, and orderly election process, the election administration has set up checkpoints and installed CCTV cameras in various areas for close monitoring. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until October 24, 2025. Voting is set for November 11, with vote counting on November 14. Security arrangements have been made to maintain peace and order during the entire election process.

Jammu-Kashmir Legislative Assembly Session Preparations

Preparations for the nine-day Jammu-Kashmir Legislative Assembly session, starting tomorrow in Srinagar, have been finalized. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has released the preliminary calendar for the session, which will run from October 23 to October 31, 2025. The session will begin with tributes to deceased legislators, MPs, and former members. The House proceedings will continue for six days. Discussions and actions will focus on critical development issues, public welfare, and governance matters. Adequate security measures have been arranged to ensure peace and order during the session.

Speaker’s Private Resolution on Electricity Bill Waiver

Jammu-Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has accepted a private resolution from PDP MLA from Kupwara, Mir Fayaz, recommending a one-time waiver of pending electricity bills for consumers. The resolution aims to provide relief to consumers facing difficulties due to high electricity costs and bill issuance. After being submitted to the Speaker, the resolution will be tabled in the Assembly and categorized, with the goal of alleviating the burden of electricity bills on the general public.

Gallantry Awards for Security Personnel

The Central Government has issued a gazette notification announcing gallantry awards for security personnel who displayed exceptional courage and bravery during operations, including Operation Snow Leopard. Among the recipients are Colonel Koshank Lamba and Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht. Colonel Lamba has been honored with the Vir Chakra for extraordinary bravery and courage in combat. Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht has also been awarded the Vir Chakra for outstanding leadership and bravery, successfully neutralizing terrorist hideouts. Additionally, Group Captain Ranjit Singh and Group Captain Amnesh Patni from the Air Force have been recognized with the Vir Chakra for precise operations and effective leadership in missile strikes against high-altitude targets, causing significant damage to enemy forces. Earlier, President Draupadi Murmu approved 127 gallantry awards and 40 distinguished service awards.

Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat Program

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation and the diaspora through his radio program “Mann Ki Baat” on October 26, 2025. The 127th episode of the program, aired every last Sunday at 11 AM, allows listeners to share their thoughts and suggestions via the toll-free number 1800-11-7800, the Narendra Modi App, or the MyGov platform. The deadline for submitting suggestions is October 24, 2025. Selected ideas may be included in the program.

Govardhan Puja Celebrations

Govardhan Puja is being celebrated today with religious fervor across various parts of the country. In Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Mathura and Vrindavan, where Lord Krishna is believed to have lifted the Govardhan Hill, the festival is observed with great devotion. At key temples like Danghati Mukharvind and Jatipura-Mukharvind, the deity is anointed with milk around noon, followed by offerings of Chhapan Bhog and the creation of a symbolic Annakut hill of sweets. Devotees also decorate and worship their cows on this occasion.

Jammu Municipal Corporation’s Kiosk Modernization Plan

The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched a special initiative to improve urban infrastructure and support street vendors by establishing organized, modern stalls in the Gumat area of Jammu. As part of this plan, 82 old kiosks have been removed to facilitate development work. The initiative aims to replace outdated kiosks with modern stalls, creating a well-organized and suitable marketplace to enhance the city’s infrastructure.
