Inspection Highlights and Trader Concerns

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, conducted a detailed inspection of the Fruit Mandi Handwara on October 25, 2025, to assess its operations and address challenges faced by traders. The visit focused on evaluating the functioning of the Mandi and identifying areas for improvement to support the local horticulture sector.

Engagement with Fruit Mandi Association

During the inspection, DC Suse engaged with members of the Fruit Mandi Association, led by President Mohammad Amin. The traders raised critical issues, including the need for a Kisan shed, a separate passage from the Bypass to the Mandi, and concerns regarding the hotline electricity supply. These issues were noted as priorities for resolution to enhance the Mandi’s efficiency.

Commitment to Infrastructure Upgrades

DC Suse assured traders that the district administration is dedicated to resolving their grievances promptly. He emphasized plans to upgrade infrastructure and improve facilities at the Fruit Mandi Handwara. Highlighting the importance of the horticulture sector as the backbone of Kupwara’s economy, Suse reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting fruit growers and traders for sustainable growth.

The DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Javid Naseem Masoodi, and Tehsildar Handwara, Zeeshan Khan, during the visit, ensuring a comprehensive review of the Mandi’s operations.
