Through this scheme, farmers and organized groups involved in agricultural activities are supported to strengthen transportation and handling of produce from farms to markets.

Objective of the Scheme

The central aim of the Post Harvest Marketing Scheme is to ensure that farmers have the essential infrastructure and capacity to handle, preserve and market agricultural produce efficiently. This reduces post harvest losses and supports better income realization for farmers in Meghalaya.

Infrastructure Support

The scheme facilitates assistance for the purchase of evacuation vehicles such as pick-up trucks, mini trucks or Tata mobile vehicles. These are provided to Farmers Groups, Farmers Clubs, Self Help Group farmers, Co-operative Societies, Farmers Interest Groups and Farmer Producer Organizations. The financial support is provided at the rate of ₹2,00,000 per group or SHG as a 50 percent subsidy.

Capacity Building and Training

Along with transport support, the scheme also offers daily allowances of ₹189 per farmer for village-level training sessions. These sessions cover various aspects of post harvest management to reduce losses and improve the overall quality of marketable produce.
