Rajasthan is currently conducting the Special Intensive Revision Programme for the electoral roll, with the aim of strengthening the accuracy and transparency of voter records. Within the first three days of the exercise, Booth Level Officers have distributed around 70.5 lakh enumeration forms across households in the state. The districts of Chittorgarh, Barmer and Alwar are presently ahead in form distribution efforts.

Focus on Creating Accurate Electoral Roll

According to the Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan, the Constitution remains the guiding foundation for electoral processes. Article 326 sets out the eligibility conditions for voters. Citizens who are Indian nationals, above 18 years of age and ordinarily residing in the concerned constituency qualify to be registered as voters. A corrected and accurate voter list is essential for the strength of the democratic system, making such revision programmes crucial.

Participation of BLOs, Supervisors and Volunteers

The programme has been rolled out across 199 assembly constituencies in the state. A total of 52,222 Booth Level Officers have begun the task of collecting information through house visits. In addition to these field teams, 5,407 supervisors have been appointed to support the smooth functioning of the exercise. During the campaign, over one lakh volunteers are extending assistance to vulnerable groups such as elderly citizens, the ill, persons with disabilities and others requiring support.

Role of Political Parties and Booth Level Agents

Recognised national and state political parties have also been actively involved. They have already appointed more than one lakh Booth Level Agents to monitor the revision and verification process and may continue to appoint additional agents as required.

Citizens Urged to Submit Completed Forms

All eligible citizens are encouraged to participate by submitting the filled enumeration form along with a recent passport-size colour photograph to their respective Booth Level Officers by 4 December. This contribution will help maintain an updated and authentic voter list for future electoral processes.
