Holi Tihar and Traditional Celebrations

On the occasion of the fourth day of the Jam Pon-Chak or Tihar festival, ‘Holi Tihar’ is being celebrated with enthusiasm across the state. Earlier in the morning, the Puja (worship) of the cattle (oxen/bullocks), which perform the important task of ploughing the fields, was performed as is tradition.

Today, Gahordan Puja (Govardhan Puja) is also being observed. Following Gram Puja and Gobordan Puja, people across the country and in homes are participating in the traditional ritual of playing Devsi.

Sikkim Tourism Department & NH 10 Concerns

The Sikkim Tourism Department and the public have thanked the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHDCL) for the ongoing work of repairing and developing National Highway 10.

However, they have submitted a letter of appeal, noting that even during minor maintenance and disruptions, no immediate communication or notice is given, leading to immediate work stoppages. They expressed deep sadness that the frequent obstructions and stoppages on **NH 10** due to development work are affecting progress, and requested NHDCL to reconsider their methods for the benefit of the people and tourists of Sikkim.

Indian Army Operation in Arunachal Pradesh

On the evening of October 21, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles Units launched an operation in the MS-6 area of Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh, encountering an enemy or terrorist. During a preliminary search after the encounter, the body of an ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom) SS Sergeant Major *won Axom Codre* along with one Rifle and three RPG Rounds were recovered. The operation is still underway.
