The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, greenlit multiple proposals worth approximately Rs 79,000 crore on October 23, 2025, during a meeting held in South Block, New Delhi. High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Crane: These vehicles will improve logistical support across diverse terrains, ensuring efficient supply chains for troops.
Indian Navy: Enhancing Maritime and Amphibious Capabilities
The DAC approved several procurements to strengthen the Indian Navy’s operational readiness and versatility:
Landing Platform Docks (LPD): These will enable amphibious operations in collaboration with the Indian Army and Air Force, supporting peacekeeping missions, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief.
30mm Naval Surface Gun (NSG): This will enhance capabilities for low-intensity maritime operations and anti-piracy roles for both the Navy and Indian Coast Guard.
Advanced Light Weight Torpedoes (ALWT): Developed indigenously by DRDO’s Naval Science & Technological Laboratory, these torpedoes can target conventional, nuclear, and midget submarines.
Electro Optical Infra-Red Search and Track System: This system will improve surveillance and targeting accuracy.
Smart Ammunition for 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mount: This will enhance the precision and effectiveness of naval gunfire.
Indian Air Force: Advancing Precision and Autonomy
The DAC accorded AoN for the Collaborative Long Range Target Saturation/Destruction System (CLRTS/DS) and other proposals for the Indian Air Force. The CLRTS/DS is equipped with autonomous take-off, landing, navigation, and payload delivery capabilities, enhancing precision strikes in mission areas.
