Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya Leads 44th Sundays on Cycle in New Delhi with Health Professionals

Nationwide Fitness Initiative Gains Momentum

Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, spearheaded the 44th edition of the Sundays on Cycle (SOC) initiative in New Delhi, a nationwide movement promoting fitness and healthy living. This week’s event, held on October 12, 2025, saw enthusiastic participation from doctors, health professionals, and citizens of all ages, emphasizing the importance of preventive health in combating lifestyle diseases like obesity.

Role of Health Professionals in Promoting Fitness

Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the pivotal role of health professionals in guiding the nation toward a healthier future. He remarked, “As Health Minister during Covid, I witnessed the unparalleled dedication of doctors and health staff. Their participation in Sundays on Cycle amplifies the message of fitness. When a doctor advocates for health, people listen. Whether it’s fighting obesity, as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, or promoting cycling through SOC, your guidance will inspire every Indian.”

Star Athletes Inspire the Public

The event was graced by World Para Athletics Championship medalists Praveen Kumar, Sonam Rana, and Sailesh Kumar, who joined to motivate participants to embrace an active lifestyle. Praveen Kumar shared, “Exercise enhances focus, which is key to success in life. Cycling is an excellent way to stay fit, and I’m thrilled to be part of this inspiring event.” Sailesh Kumar added, “The government’s effort to promote fitness through SOC is commendable. Everyone should dedicate at least an hour daily to fitness for physical and mental well-being. The enthusiasm here shows that Indians are embracing fitness seriously.”

A Nationwide Movement for a Healthier India

The 44th edition of Sundays on Cycle was celebrated in over 10,000 locations across India, from state capitals to remote regions, in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Yogasana Bharat, and MY Bharat. Alongside cycling, activities such as Zumba, Rope Skipping led by Dr. Shikha Gupta, Yogasana, and a Game Zone were included to engage participants of all ages.

Building a Fit India for Viksit Bharat

Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the initiative’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, stating, “A healthy body and mind are the foundation of a strong nation. Sundays on Cycle has become one of India’s leading fitness movements, reaching even the most remote corners every Sunday. Cycling is an accessible exercise for all, and I urge everyone to support Swadeshi products for their fitness needs.”
