Responding to a question from MLA Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Khan, the Chief Minister noted that Gurez has been identified as a key off-beat destination. He assured that the Tourism Department will recommend Gurez for inclusion in any dedicated Government of India scheme for off-beat tourism development as soon as such a program is launched.

Helicopter Services for Tourism

Addressing concerns about accessibility, Abdullah clarified that the current helicopter service in Gurez primarily serves locals and patients, especially during winter when the area is cut off. However, he expressed openness to private participation in tourism-related aviation. “If a private player proposes helicopter services for tourists, we will provide full support,” he said, adding that the government is ready to explore such proposals.

Light and Sound Show Proposal

A Light and Sound Show on Habba Khatoon Mountain is under consideration to further boost tourism. The Chief Minister stated, “We are assessing its technical and logistical viability. If feasible, we will move forward with the project.”
