CCI Issues Appeal to Cotton Farmers

The Cotton Corporation of India has urged cotton growers to follow the prescribed quality guidelines while selling their produce during the 2025-26 marketing season. Cotton procurement has already begun through slot booking, and the corporation has laid out eligibility criteria for establishing procurement centres, ensuring that maximum farmers have the opportunity to receive the Minimum Support Price.

Procurement Centres Across States

As per the established norms, a total of 570 procurement centres have been set up in 11 cotton-producing states. These centres are expected to support farmers by providing easier access for selling their produce at the support price.

Kapas Kisan App Registration Date Extended

To facilitate more farmers, the deadline for self-registration on the Kapas Kisan App has been extended from 31 October 2025 to 31 December 2025. This step is aimed at increasing farmer participation in the MSP procurement system.

Moisture Norms for MSP Payment

Under the quality standards, full MSP will be provided if the moisture content in cotton does not exceed 85%. If moisture is above 85% and up to 12%, MSP will be calculated after applying a proportionate deduction based on moisture exceeding 8%. Cotton with moisture content beyond 12% will not be eligible.

Advice to Farmers

Farmers have been advised to ensure that cotton is well dried before bringing it to the procurement centre. This will help them avoid any reduction in payment due to additional moisture content.
