UAE-Australia Investment Dialogue Advances with CEPA
In a bid to strengthen bilateral economic ties, the UAE Embassy in Canberra hosted the third edition of the UAE Investment Showcase in Sydney. The event was organised to spotlight investment prospects through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which recently became effective between the UAE and Australia.
Sectoral Focus: AI, Energy, and Agri-Tech
The event featured two focused sessions. The first highlighted potential investment areas under CEPA, with emphasis on artificial intelligence, food production, renewable energy, strategic minerals, and infrastructure development. Participants were informed of the significant role these sectors play in strengthening energy efficiency and food sustainability across both nations.
Guidance for Market Entry into the UAE
The second session provided guidance to Australian firms aspiring to enter the UAE market. Attendees were briefed on the financial incentives, governance frameworks, and support systems available to international firms looking to expand under the CEPA framework.
Multiple MoUs Signed for Strategic Collaboration
The forum also witnessed the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding aimed at deepening institutional partnerships. These included agreements between the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and key Australian entities such as the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI) and Forbes Australia. Further pacts were also sealed between ADIO and the National Reconstruction Fund, as well as Investment New South Wales. These alliances aim to build channels for future joint projects.
Keynote Highlights Shared Vision
Dr. Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq, the UAE Ambassador to Australia, delivered the opening keynote. He underscored the strategic importance of leveraging CEPA to foster mutual economic growth, particularly in areas aligned with sustainability and digital transformation.
Celebrating 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations
The event coincided with the 50th anniversary of UAE-Australia ties, reflecting a strong emphasis on bilateral growth anchored in shared economic priorities and the fresh momentum added by CEPA.
