Justice Timothy Brewer takes charge of Defence oversight
Justice Timothy Brewer has been appointed as the new Inspector-General of Defence (IGD) for New Zealand. His appointment follows a decade-long tenure as a Justice of the High Court, complemented by a distinguished military background. Having served as a Brigadier in the Territorial Force of the New Zealand Army, Brewer also contributed judicially to the Court Martial of New Zealand and the Court Martial Appeal Court.
He is set to retire from the High Court bench on 15 November and will formally begin his role as Inspector-General on 1 December.
Natalie Pierce becomes first Deputy IGD
Barrister Natalie Pierce has been named as the inaugural Deputy Inspector-General of Defence, marking a significant milestone in Defence oversight.
