
Axis Bank has extended support to disaster-affected families in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh under its corporate social responsibility initiative. North Zone Head Abhishek Parashar and State Head Varun Sharma met Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at his official residence, Oak Over, to discuss the initiative.
57 Weather-Resistant Shelters Planned in Seraj Assembly Segment
The bank has committed to construct 57 weather-resistant shelters in the Seraj Assembly constituency. These shelters will include heat insulation, PCC flooring, kitchen slabs and basic electrical fittings. The facilities are intended to offer safe housing to families displaced due to natural disasters.
Community Sanitation Facilities to Support Affected Families
In addition to housing support, Axis Bank will install 15 community toilet units. Each unit will cater to 3 to 6 families and will be equipped with water tanks, stainless steel sinks and CPVC pipe fittings. These facilities aim to ensure essential sanitation and hygiene in affected areas.
Implementation Support and Long-Term Utility
The bank will also provide logistical and administrative assistance for smooth implementation. This includes beneficiary identification, vendor onboarding, supervision and impact assessment. Special focus will be placed on vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, children and persons with disabilities.
The shelters are designed to be durable, reusable and capable of serving as emergency infrastructure in future disaster situations, enhancing long-term resilience and preparedness.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed gratitude and stated that the initiative would provide significant relief to affected families during a difficult period.
