District Committee Reviews Non-Notified Forest Areas in Serchhip
The Serchhip District Administration held a meeting of the District Level Committee at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to review Non-Notified Forest Areas (NNTFA) in the district. The committee discussed the affidavit filed before the Supreme Court of India in 1997 concerning Lungrang Tlang (Thenzawl East VC), Lungreng Tlang (Lungkawlh VC), and Lungpho Ngaw (Lungpho VC).
The committee noted that as per the State Level Expert Committee, the boundaries and details of these forest areas need to be verified and corrected where necessary. For inclusion as new NNTF areas, Lalvunga Hmun Liam, Bawktlang, Khurthar Chung, and East Lungdar were approved. However, North Vanlaiphai was excluded due to pending boundary issues, pending expert committee review.
It was also decided that government plantation records would be properly maintained and categorized under forest areas. These verified records will be submitted to the State Level Expert Committee by November 29. Stakeholder consultations with Village Councils and local representatives will be conducted before final submission.
Officials from the EF&CC Department, Revenue Department, DLAO, YMA branches, and representatives from several Village Councils including Thenzawl East, Lungpho, Lungkawlh, North Vanlaiphai, Leng, East Lungdar, and Bawktlang attended the meeting.
Revenue Minister B. Lalchhanzova Distributes Land Passes for Maumual Area
Revenue Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova presided over the distribution of 456 Land Passes for Maumual area under the Revenue Department’s land settlement initiative. The event was held at VOLCOMH, Maumual, Chaltlang. Secretary Pu Vanlalmawia, Director Pu R. Lalthazuala, Maumual Land Owners, the Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA), and Local Council leaders were present.
The Minister emphasized the importance of fair and efficient land management, stating that the process has been conducted transparently to resolve disputes and support rightful ownership. He acknowledged the contribution of landowners and department officials for ensuring smooth verification.
The Maumual land survey began on May 23, 2022, covering 11.65 km of road area and costing Rs. 41,37,872. A total of 831 plots were surveyed, 456 land passes issued, 13 plots leased, and 61 entered into the Land Bank. The Minister also mentioned the adoption of E-file and E-Ram systems for faster administrative processing and better transparency in the Revenue Department.
75.15% Voter Turnout Recorded in 2-Dampa (ST) Bye-Election
The 2-Dampa (ST) Assembly Constituency bye-election recorded a voter turnout of 75.15% by 3:00 PM. Polling began at 7:00 AM across 41 polling stations, with webcasting implemented in 40 of them under the supervision of the District Election Office. Voting at Zopui station was interrupted briefly due to a technical issue.
The constituency has 20,790 registered voters, including critical polling stations at Silsury I, II, and III. Vote counting will take place on November 14, 2025.
Mizoram Labour Minister Attends National Labour & Employment Conference in New Delhi
Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar represented Mizoram at the ‘National Conference of Labour & Employment and Industry Ministers and Secretaries of State/UT Governments’ held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event was organized by the Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE) and attended by Union Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State Pi Shobha Karandlaje.
In his address, Pu Hmar highlighted the need for strengthening labour welfare systems and improving skill development across states. He stated that collaboration between states and the Centre is crucial for equitable labour policy implementation. The Minister shared Mizoram’s initiatives in sending trained youth to work in Japan and other countries and called for improved language training and private placement regulation to expand employment opportunities.
The conference discussed major upcoming policies including the ‘Shakti Niti 2025 – National Labour & Employment Policy’ and the ‘Private Placement Agencies (Regulation) Act 2025’. MoLE also presented details of the new ‘Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY)’, offering incentives up to Rs. 15,000 for new employees hired between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027, with an allocation of Rs. 99,446 crore.
SEIL National Integration Tour Concludes in Lunglei
The valedictory function of the Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living (SEIL) National Integration Tour to Mizoram was held at HATIM Conference Hall, Kawmzawl, Pukpui, Lunglei. Lunglei DIPRO Pu C. Lalhruaitluanga attended as the chief guest, with HATIM Principal Dr. R. Lalnunthara presiding over the event.
Delegates from various states shared their experiences of learning about Mizo culture, traditions, and hospitality. Dr. Lalnunthara highlighted the importance of inter-cultural exchange in fostering national unity. Rev. PC Lalfakawma of the United Pentecostal Church and SEIL alumni also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the value of cultural understanding.
The SEIL Tour, organized by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), brought 25 students from different states to Mizoram from November 7 to 11, 2025. During the program, delegates visited Lawngtlai, Siaha, and Lunglei districts, interacting with local communities and institutions to better understand Mizo social life, language, and values.
