In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, widely known as the “Iron Man of India” and the first Home Minister of independent India, the Aizawl district administration has announced the organisation of a “Unity March” on November 21, 2025.
The preparatory meeting for the event was convened under the chairmanship of Aizawl Deputy Commissioner Er. Lalhriapuia, IAS. The meeting discussed detailed arrangements for the celebration, including coordination between departments and institutions concerned.
Unity March Schedule and Route
The Unity March will be conducted under the leadership of the National Service Scheme (NSS) students from Higher Secondary School 8. Participants will be divided into two groups, each following different routes before converging at Lammual Ground, Aizawl.
- The first group will march from Sikulpuikawn to Lammual.
- The second group will begin from Chanmari Kawn and proceed to Lammual.
Both groups will converge at Lammual, where a formal gathering will be held. The Unity March will commence at 6:30 AM, while the concluding assembly will take place at 7:00 AM.
Administrative Preparations
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all departments to ensure proper coordination for the smooth execution of the Unity March. Necessary responsibilities and arrangements were allocated among the respective departments to ensure an orderly and meaningful observance of the occasion.
Officials discussed measures related to crowd management, route safety, and student participation to make the event both disciplined and vibrant. The administration aims to reflect the spirit of unity and nation-building that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel symbolized through his leadership during India’s independence and integration period.
