The GSO delegation is led by its Chairman, Nawaf Ibrahim Al-Mana.

The session’s agenda includes several key issues, such as the chairperson’s report on the 88th and 89th meetings of the executive committee, discussion of the Codex strategic plan for 2026–2031, approval of the organization’s budget, and the election of the chairperson, vice-chairpersons, and executive committee members according to geographic distribution.

Other topics include the appointment of coordinators and countries responsible for leading Codex subsidiary bodies, reviewing reports from coordination committees between the FAO and the World Health Organization (WHO), and discussing the outcomes of specialized technical committees and proposed amendments to the Codex Procedural Manual.

In a significant achievement related to international food standards, the Codex Alimentarius Commission, supported by GSO member states, approved a new international standard for fresh dates.
