The Election Commission of India has issued an amendment to its earlier notification concerning the appointment of the Electoral Registration Officer for Assembly Constituencies in the State of Haryana. The amendment substitutes the official designated for the 37-Uchana Kalan Assembly Constituency. The change has been made under the powers provided by Section 13B(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. What changed
The entry for the 37-Uchana Kalan Assembly Constituency previously listed as “Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jind” has been replaced by “Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), Uchana”. The amendment is a partial modification of Notification No. 429/HAR-LA/2024 issued earlier by the Election Commission of India and follows consultation with the Government of Haryana. Why this matters to the public
The Electoral Registration Officer is responsible for maintaining and updating the electoral roll, handling claims and objections, and ensuring accurate voter registration within the constituency. Reassigning the officer to a local Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), Uchana, could affect how quickly local voters can access services related to voter registration and electoral roll corrections. Residents of Uchana Kalan and nearby areas who need to update their voter details should consult their local municipal and district election pages for process and timing. The district administration website for Jind provides local electoral and administrative notices. District Jind. For Uchana municipal details, see the municipal page. Municipal Committee Uchana.
Legal basis and reference

The full text of the Act is available on the India Code website. Representation of the People Act, 1950 (PDF).
