Georgian Artists Showcase Ceramics Inspired by Nature, Heritage at ‘Banan’
Riyadh — At the Georgia pavilion during the Saudi International Handicrafts Week “Banan,” organized by the Heritage Commission, a project is showcased by two artists who have been working together for twenty years, united by both friendship and a shared passion for ceramics.
Anna Gabriadze and Nino Gobaladze, graduates of the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (Georgia), are representing their country for the first time in the Kingdom at the Banan exhibition, an event that brings together top artisans from around the world.
The two artists indicated that their visit to Riyadh has been a unique experience, as the exhibition provides a broad platform to showcase Georgian heritage and highlight its aesthetics through contemporary ceramics.
They noted that their project focuses on creating ceramic pieces inspired by Georgian nature and traditional motifs dating back centuries, while presenting them in modern forms that reflect the beauty of shapes and simplicity of lines.
They described their participation at Banan as a great opportunity to reach a new audience and exchange experiences with artisans from diverse cultures.
They also noted that visitor engagement with their work was remarkable, particularly the appreciation for details inspired by Georgian heritage and the presentation of pieces that blend simplicity with depth.
