Lok Sabha Speaker Pays Tributes to Shri Rabi Ray

Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla offered floral tributes to former Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Rabi Ray in Samvidhan Sadan on his birth anniversary today.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh, Members of Parliament, and former Members also honored Shri Rabi Ray during the event.
Lok Sabha Secretary-General Shri Utpal Kumar Singh and Rajya Sabha Secretary-General Shri P. C. Mody joined in paying floral tributes to Shri Rabi Ray.
Life and Career of Shri Rabi Ray
Shri Rabi Ray was born on 26 November 1926 in Bhanaragarh village in the Puri district of Odisha. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1967 as part of the Fourth Lok Sabha. He also held the position of Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare. Shri Rabi Ray served as Speaker of the Ninth Lok Sabha from 19 December 1989 to 09 July 1991.

The portrait of Shri Rabi Ray, displayed in the Outer Lobby of Samvidhan Sadan, was unveiled on 10 February 2014 by the then President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee.
