Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the Legislative Council that only 13% of consumers in the state have smart meters installed, even though 100% feeder metering has been completed.
Replying to a question by Satej Patil, the CM said smart meters have been installed since 1 February and are not being done in a target-oriented manner. He noted that Maharashtra has lower electricity rates compared to neighbouring states and that the rate is expected to come down to ₹7.43 per unit by 2029-30.
The government has prepared a list of companies for solar energy projects and is providing other facilities to beneficiaries of various schemes. Nilesh Gorhe and Eknath Khadse also participated in the discussion.
