Japanese Encephalitis outbreak has been reported during the current year in Assam, with the death toll rising to 10.
The number of patients affected by Japanese Encephalitis currently stands at 42.
Deaths have been reported from Kamrup district (3), Barpeta and Lakhimpur (2 each), and Kamrup Metropolitan, Cachar, and Jorhat (1 each).
Alongside this, cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the state have increased to 519.
In response, the state health department has initiated preventive measures, including training programmes for health workers and public awareness campaigns.
Control measures such as spraying, fogging, and sanitation drives are being carried out in affected areas including Rangia and Nagarbera in Kamrup district.
Health teams are also conducting surveillance and monitoring activities across rural and affected regions.
