FAB Achieves Record Financial Performance in First Nine Months of 2025

Net Profit Surges 24% to AED16.02 Billion

ABU DHABI, 22nd October 2025 – First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) has reported an outstanding group net profit of AED16.02 billion for the nine-month period ending 30th September 2025, marking a 24% increase compared to the previous year. The bank’s Profit Before Tax also saw a significant rise, growing 26% year-on-year to AED19.25 billion.

Strong Returns and Business Growth

FAB’s Return on Tangible Equity (RoTE) reached an impressive 20%, surpassing its medium-term targets. The bank’s robust performance was fueled by strong execution across all business divisions, with notable double-digit growth driven by increased client activity, diversified revenue streams, and growing contributions from strategic trade corridors.

Revenue and Income Highlights

Operating income for the period increased by 16% year-on-year to AED27.65 billion, supported by sustained client engagement. Net interest income grew by 2% to AED14.96 billion, reflecting healthy loan volume growth. Non-interest income saw a remarkable 37% surge to AED12.7 billion, comprising 46% of total group revenue. This growth was driven by a 23% increase in fees and commissions and a 45% rise in foreign exchange and investment income.

Balance Sheet and Asset Growth

FAB’s balance sheet reflected strong growth, with loans and advances rising 13% year-to-date to AED596 billion, driven by robust demand in trade-linked financing. Customer deposits grew by 8% to AED848 billion, showcasing continued client confidence and liquidity inflows. Total assets reached AED1.38 trillion, a 14% increase year-to-date. The bank maintained solid asset quality with a prudent risk profile, supported by a Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio of 13.7% and a Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) of 158% as of September 2025.

Leadership in Credit Ratings

FAB continues to hold one of the strongest credit ratings in the region at AA- or equivalent, reflecting its solid capital position, balance sheet strength, and disciplined operational execution.

Strategic Expansion and Innovation

Hana Al Rostamani, Group Chief Executive Officer of FAB, emphasized the bank’s focus on deepening client relationships, diversifying revenue, and driving sustainable growth. She highlighted FAB’s growing international presence, with strategic expansions in Europe, Türkiye, Nigeria, and a new branch in India, reinforcing the bank’s role as a leading corridor bank. Additionally, FAB’s adoption of artificial intelligence has delivered measurable impacts, positioning the bank as a leader in intelligence-driven innovation.

Third Quarter Performance

Lars Kramer, Group Chief Financial Officer, noted that FAB’s third-quarter net profit rose 21% year-on-year to AED5.39 billion. The bank maintained strong momentum in lending, transaction volumes, and deposit flows, continuing to support clients across all segments.
