CMPDI Marks 51st CIL and CMPDI Foundation Day in Ranchi

CMPDI, a Mini-Ratna Company, observed the 51st Foundation Day of Coal India Limited and CMPDI on 20 November with full fervor at its headquarters in Ranchi.
Address by the Chief Guest
The Chief Guest, Shri Sanjay Seth, Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, noted that completing 50 years is an extraordinary milestone for Coal India and CMPDI. He highlighted that high-quality research and development and continuous innovation have played a central role in helping CMPDI reach this stage. He appreciated the promptness and dedication with which CMPDI has been meeting the nation’s energy requirements since its inception. He stated that CMPDI is contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the target of Net Zero Emissions by 2070.
Remarks from Special Guests
Shri N. C. Jha, Former Chairman of Coal India Limited and Special Guest of Honour, commended CMPDI for its work and emphasized the importance of effectively adopting Information Technology and diversifying services in line with the changing sector. He encouraged CMPDI to strengthen its Business Development department to utilize emerging opportunities in the mining industry.
Shri Manoj Kumar, Former CMD of CMPDI, said that CMPDI must align its services with the national vision of Viksit Bharat and Net-Zero commitments. He added that the organization is prepared to take advantage of new prospects to help meet the country’s expanding energy needs.
Focus on Future Strategy
Shri Satish Jha, CMD, CMPDI (Additional Charge) and CMD, ECL, outlined major achievements of CMPDI during the past year. He stated that to stay relevant in a rapidly changing global environment, CMPDI must diversify beyond coal. He noted the need to advance into Critical and Rare Earth Elements, clean energy solutions, and adopt advanced technologies such as AI, machine learning, and smart mining to improve productivity and efficiency. He described this transition as essential for the organization to sustain its leadership and innovation in the years ahead.
Awards and Participation
Shri Sanjay Seth, along with other dignitaries, presented corporate awards to CMPDI Departments and Regional Institutes for their outstanding performance across various operational areas during 2024-25.
