Overview
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has introduced fresh tariff values for several imported goods including edible oils, metal scrap, gold and silver. The update is issued under Notification No. 72/2025-CUSTOMS (N.T.), dated 31 October 2025, by exercising powers under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962.
Revised Tariff Values for Edible Oils and Brass Scrap
The new tariff values adjust the reference prices used for calculating customs duties. Crude palm oil is now valued at USD 1113 per metric tonne, while RBD palm oil stands at USD 1142 per metric tonne. Values for crude palmolein and refined palmolein range between USD 1145 and USD 1148 per metric tonne. Crude soya bean oil has been fixed at USD 1187 per metric tonne. Brass scrap across all grades has been assigned a tariff value of USD 6096 per metric tonne.
Gold and Silver Tariff Values
For gold and silver imports where benefits under serial numbers 194 and 195 of Notification No. 45/2025-Customs dated 24 October 2025 are availed, gold is valued at USD 1285 per 10 grams and silver at USD 1556 per kilogram. The same valuation applies to other forms of silver falling under specified classifications. Gold bars, coins meeting a minimum purity level of 99.5 percent and gold findings are also valued at USD 1285 per 10 grams.
Areca Nuts Tariff Value
Areca nuts, classified under tariff item 080280, continue with the previous tariff value of USD 7142 per metric tonne with no adjustment at this time.
Effective Date
The revised tariff values come into effect from 1 November 2025.

the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, being satisfied that it is necessary and expedient to do so, hereby makes the
following amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue),
No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), dated the 3rd August, 2001, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section-3,
