
The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, has issued new recruitment rules governing the appointment of Directors in major state health institutions. The notification, dated 4 November 2025, specifies the eligibility criteria, selection process, service conditions and disqualification terms for the post.
Hospitals and Institutes Covered
The new recruitment framework applies to the position of Director in the following institutions:
- Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital
- Delhi State Cancer Institute
- Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya
- Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences
- Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital
Pay Level, Tenure and Age Limit
The post has been classified under Category A with Level 15 of the pay matrix, ranging from Rs. 1,82,200 to Rs. 2,24,100. Applicants can be up to 62 years of age on the last date for submission of applications, which is 30 days from the publication of the advertisement. The appointed Director will serve a term of five years or until attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must hold a recognized MBBS degree and a relevant postgraduate medical qualification. Specific postgraduate requirements differ based on the institution:
- RGSSH and JSSH: MD/MS/MDS/DM/DNB in relevant fields
- Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya: Postgraduate Degree in Paediatrics or Paediatric Surgery
- Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences: Postgraduate Medical Degree in Psychiatry, Neurosciences or allied sciences
- Delhi State Cancer Institute: Postgraduate Degree in Oncology
A minimum of 25 years of teaching or research experience after postgraduation is required. Additionally, candidates must have at least ten years of experience as Professor, Associate Professor, Reader or equivalent, including five years as Professor in a recognized medical institution.
Desirable Qualifications
The desirable criteria include postdoctoral qualifications such as DM, M.Ch, Ph.D., Fellow National Board or equivalent in relevant super specialties. Applicants with at least five years of administrative experience in medical institutions, credible research publications and recognized national or international awards will receive preference.
Recruitment Method and Relaxations
The post will be filled through direct recruitment, failing which through deputation, including short-term contract. The rules also allow relaxation of eligibility conditions by the government where necessary. Reservation policies, age relaxation and other applicable concessions for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, ex-servicemen and special categories will apply as per existing government norms.
The Screening-cum-Selection Committee for the recruitment process will be constituted with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and include senior officials and heads of major medical institutions.
