Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah has commended the joint efforts of the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Delhi Police for dismantling a large trans-national methamphetamine cartel under Operation Crystal Fortress.

In a message posted on the X platform, Shri Amit Shah noted that the government is acting against drug cartels at a rapid pace. He stated that a significant development was achieved with the seizure of 328 kilograms of methamphetamine valued at ₹262 crore in New Delhi and the arrest of two individuals. He described the operation as an example of coordinated action across agencies aimed at supporting the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for a drug-free nation and extended his congratulations to the teams involved.
Major Seizure Under Operation Crystal Fortress
The Narcotics Control Bureau (OPS Branch), working with the Special Cell (CI) of the Delhi Police, uncovered a trans-national trafficking network following the seizure of approximately 328 kilograms of high-quality methamphetamine from a residence in Chhatarpur, Delhi, on 20.11.2025. The operation formed part of an intelligence-based effort focused on synthetic drug networks with large-scale operations.
The action followed months of investigation supported by intelligence and technical surveillance, which revealed the structure of an organized trafficking chain and ultimately led to the major recovery.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Two individuals, including a woman from Nagaland, were arrested with assistance from the Nagaland Police. The seizure took place at their residence. Additional individuals linked to the network have been identified, including a key figure operating from abroad who is also wanted in connection with a previous case involving the seizure of 82.5 kilograms of high-grade cocaine in Delhi last year. Coordination with international enforcement agencies is underway to facilitate his deportation to India for legal proceedings.
This seizure is among the largest methamphetamine recoveries reported in Delhi. Initial findings suggest that the cartel relied on several couriers, multiple safe-houses, and layered handlers, with Delhi serving as an important center for distribution within India and to markets overseas.
